The 3 On 3 Basketball Competition

E-mail Print

In view of the upcoming Youth Olympic Games, Pek Kio CC YEC organized a 3-on-3 basketball competition on the 11th July 2010.

Event started from 12noon and ended around 7pm, in the evening. The event was held in our, very own, basketball court. There were 2 categories- under 21 y.o and open categories.

The morning was slow but the afternoon couldn’t be more interesting as participants were all pumped up for the game. The games were all very quick and hasty as teams fought to stay on top. While competition was tough for most teams, it only made each game much more intense for finalists.

At the end of the long day, the winners were presented with their prizes by our Guest-Of-Honor, Mr Lim Tow Koon Eric, PBM; Chairman of Pek Kio CCMC. Read more about it here.

YOG event

Moulmein residents had the opportunity to play their part in a 'history-in-the-making' Youth Olympic Games event on Friday 13th August 2010. This was the 6th and final day of the YOG Torch Relay. It was also the day when the YOG flame was being carried along roads within Moulmein and the day when a couple of Moulmein's grassroots leaders, Mr. Eddy Tan and Mr Eric Tan were to be torch-bearers for the YOG Torch when it is relayed along Serangoon Road.

Moulmein CCC organised a 'Cheer-the-Flame' festive event at Tekka Centre where 200 over residents from various neighbourhoods gathered for a morning of line-dancing. As the time for the torch's arrival approched, the 'Moulmein YOG Cheer Team' got themselves ready with their pom-poms and clappers alongside Serangoon Road. The arrival of the traffic police and the YOG buses signalled the arrival of the runners and soon we were shouting ourselves hoarse as we cheered Eddy and Eric on when they took over the torch for their relay runs.
